ACC President Highlights Reform Agenda at Strategic Plan Launch

At the launch of the Anti-Corruption Commission’s (ACC) 5th Strategic Plan (2026–2030) held on 22nd April 2026, ACC President Uz. Adam Shamil outlined a comprehensive vision to strengthen integrity and tackle systemic corruption in the Maldives.
In his address, the President described the Strategic Plan as a “roadmap for the future,” emphasizing that its success will depend on effective implementation and accountability. He noted that the launch follows the 35th anniversary of the institutionalization of anti-corruption efforts in the Maldives, paying tribute to the dedication of past and present Commission staff.
Highlighting collaboration as a key driver of progress, he acknowledged the support of national institutions and international partners, including the Government of Maldives, law enforcement agencies, the European Union, and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
The President outlined several major reforms under the new plan, including strengthening the Commission’s governance framework and overhauling operational arrangements. He noted that the Maldives National Anti-Corruption Academy has already been established, with plans to introduce the country’s first accredited Diploma in Anti-Corruption Investigation in the near future.
He also emphasized the role of technology in enhancing efficiency, noting that the Commission is advancing digitalization and automation to speed up investigations and improve detection capabilities.
Addressing delays in investigations, the President revealed that amendments are being introduced to ensure cases are completed within defined timelines, fostering greater accountability and discipline in investigative processes.
Concluding his speech, the President reaffirmed the Commission’s commitment to building public trust and achieving a corruption-free Maldives through strengthened institutional capacity and targeted reforms.
