ACC Launches 5th Strategic Plan
22nd April 2026
The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) today unveiled its 5th Strategic Plan for the next five years. This plan serves as a vital roadmap to ensure the most effective use of the Commission’s resources by targeting high-risk areas of corruption. Its primary objective is to deliver visible and positive outcomes for the public through focused anti-corruption efforts within a defined timeframe.
The Strategic Plan is structured around five key areas:
Governance and Institutional Development
Operational Excellence and High Impact
Strengthening the National Integrity System
Enhancing Governance in Public Procurement and State-Owned Enterprises
Preventing and Addressing Political Corruption
Under this plan, efforts will be made to strengthen the Commission institutionally by developing a capable workforce and fostering a conducive work environment. In addition, the Commission will reform its policies to ensure they are evidence based and result oriented, while also strengthening investigation and prosecution processes.
To further enhance integrity, the plan prioritizes awareness programmes for all age groups and the expansion of training through the Maldives Anti-Corruption Academy. It also outlines specific initiatives to identify high-risk state-owned enterprises (SOEs), reform their systems, and strengthen the monitoring of procurement processes.
A key focus of this five-year plan is the prevention of corruption within the political sphere. This includes advocating for measures to ensure fair elections, promoting transparency in recruitment processes, and strengthening public trust in state institutions.
This Strategic Plan marks a significant step toward achieving the ACC’s mandate and provides a strong foundation for enhancing integrity and reducing corruption in the Maldives over the next five years.
