Anti-Corruption Commission Highlights Key Role at COSP 11 by Co-Organizing Two Side Events
14th December 2025
The Maldives Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) is proud to play a prominent role at the 11th Conference of the States Parties (COSP 11) to the United Nations Convention against Corruption (UNCAC) in Doha, Qatar. For the first time, the ACC is co-organizing international discussions on anti-corruption, focusing on both practical risk mitigation approaches and youth-led integrity initiatives.
Side Event 1: Corruption Risk Mitigation Approaches for Sustainable Development
Co-organized with the Uganda Ministry of State for Ethics and Integrity, the East Africa Association of Anti-Corruption Authorities, and the UNODC Anti-Corruption and Economic Crime Hub for Africa, this landmark event will examine practical approaches to assessing and mitigating corruption risks in Least Developed Countries (LDCs) and Small Island Developing States (SIDS).
Key discussions will focus on:
Risk-based approaches to prevent corruption before it occurs
Sector-specific experiences in infrastructure, customs, health, education, and natural resources
Tools and lessons that enhance transparency, institutional integrity, and public trust despite limited resources
Side Event 2: Youth Leading Integrity: From Classrooms to Parliaments
ACC representatives will join Panel 2 of COSP 11, highlighting the critical role of young people in promoting integrity and accountability. The panel will also showcase the ACC’s Social Audit toolkit demonstrating the Commission’s commitment to citizen engagement and accountability in anti-corruption efforts.
These events mark historic firsts for the Maldives as a co-organizer and active participant in international anti-corruption dialogues. Through practical risk mitigation strategies and youth engagement, the ACC is sharing its experiences while learning from global partners to strengthen governance and public trust in LDCs and SIDS.
