Anti-Corruption Commission sent 03 cases for prosecution

The Commission’s statistical data for the first three quarters of 2019 discloses that 03 cases were forwarded to Prosecutor General’s Office, carrying a total of 03 different charges.

In the third quarter of 2019, only one case was forwarded to Prosecutor General’s Office which carried one charge of providing an undue advantage for a third party. Likewise, only one case was sent for prosecution during the third quarter of 2018 as well, which carried one charge of providing an undue advantage for a third party and one charge of personal gain against two defendants.

It was also observed that, the total monetary value involved in the cases sent for prosecution by ACC during the first three quarters of 2019 amounted to 3,646,500.00 (Three million six hundred and forty-six thousand five hundred) Rufiyaa.

Amongst the cases sent for prosecution by ACC, a total of 12 cases were returned by Prosecutor General’s Office during the first 03 quarters of 2019, out of which 03 cases were returned during the third quarter. Moreover, Prosecutor General’s Office returned 06 cases, due to limitations to prosecute for various reasons.
