A case alleging that MTCC awarded their Expatriate recruitment work unduly to third parties has been forwarded to Prosecutor General’s Office.

Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has forwarded a case to PGO on on 12th October 2021, awarded their expatriate recruitment work unduly to third parties has been forwarded to Prosecutor General’s Office.

On July 24, 2017, Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) issued a job order to recruit 53 expatriate workers; the expatriate recruitment work was entrusted to SK Maldives Pvt Ltd and Country Maldives Pvt Ltd. Recruiting agencies, on the other hand, lodged numerous complaints about the awarding process.

Following further investigation, it was revealed that Ibrahim Ziyath, the former CEO of MTCC, had misused his position of power by issuing a second job order to which only SK Maldives Pvt Ltd and Country Maldives Pvt Ltd were notified. Other recruitment agencies were unaware of the second job order, giving SK Maldives Pvt Ltd and Country Maldives Pvt Ltd undue advantages.

Thus, the case has been forwarded to the Prosecutor General’s Office, requesting the prosecution upon Ibrahim Ziyath under Article 12 (a) of Law no: 2/2000 (Prevention & Prohibition of Corruption Act).
