A case alleging WAMCO of awarding a project to develop “veshifaara” software in contravention of its procurement policy has been forwarded to PGO.

Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has forwarded a case to PGO on 28th September 2021, alleging WAMCO of awarding a project to develop “veshifaara” software in contravention of its procurement policy has been forwarded to PGO. Based on the findings of the case, the Commission has concluded that the case warrants prosecution on the grounds that former Managing Director of WAMCO, Mohamed Shifaau (Huvadhooge / GDh. Thinadhoo) had personally benefited/gained from the agreement and acted in a manner which provided an undue advantage for a third party.
Thus, the case has been forwarded to the Prosecutor General’s Office to be prosecuted under Article 513(b) of Law number: 9/2014 (Maldives Penal Code).
