Uz. Adam Shamil was appointed to the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) by the President of the Republic of Maldives on 17th March 2022, with the approval of the Maldivian Parliament. He was elected as the President of the Commission on same date.

Uz. Adam Shamil brings to the position, over 9 years of experience in the aspect of Corruption Prevention in the Maldives. From the year 2011 to 2020 Uz.Adam Shamil served in the commission at different capacities.

His services as the former UNODC National Anti-Corruption Consultant to the Maldives and as the former Legal Consultant for the EU Justice and Anti-Corruption Project in Maldives are notable nation-wide efforts in the field of Anti-Corruption in the Maldives. He also represented as a governmental expert from the Maldives at the second cycle of the United Nations Convention against Corruption (UNCAC) review mechanism.

Apart from the above, his previous leadership positions include, the position of Director of Legal Affairs and Investigation at Children’s' Ombudsperson's Office, and played a leadership role in the establishment of the office.

Uz. Adam Shamil holds a Master’s Degree in Law (LL.M) and an Honors Degree in Law (LL. B). He worked as a former visiting lecturer of Laws at the Maldives National University.
